ICA: the 11th edition of the Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers’ Conference in Jordan

International Cooperative Alliance: Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between ODCO and JCC at the 11th Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers' Conference in Jordan

The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) for the Asia-Pacific region in partnership with the Jordan Co-operative Corporation (JCC) and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, orchestrated the 11th edition of the Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers’ Conference (APCMC) on the shores of the Dead Sea in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Madame Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, was represented by Madame Aicha Errifaai, General Director of the Office of Cooperation Development, at this landmark event.

Under the theme “Government-Cooperative Partnership for Cooperative Resilience, Sustainable Development & Inclusive Growth,” the conference emerged as a platform for strategic exchanges, innovative partnerships, and impactful initiatives, thus marking a significant milestone in promoting international cooperation for development.

In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding, under the supervision of His Excellency Khaled Mousa Shehadeh Alhuneafat, the Minister of Agriculture of Jordan, was concluded between the Office of Cooperation Development in Morocco and the Jordan Co-operative Corporation, represented by its General Director, Mr. Abdelfatth Al Shalabi.

This Memorandum signifies the first step towards a fruitful partnership and sustained collaboration, thereby paving the way for mutually beneficial knowledge exchange and large-scale projects in the cooperative sector.

In her Statement, Madam Aicha Errifaai announced “ Morocco’s cooperative sector has undergone a  transformative journey by the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohamed VI… with 54,000 cooperatives currently operating, employing 723,000 individuals. Of these, 7,300 are women-led cooperatives, reflecting a commitment to gender equality and economic empowerment. These cooperatives contribute significantly to various sustainable development goals, including poverty eradication, hunger alleviation, and gender equality… As Morocco continues to prioritize the cooperative sector, with plans to increase its contribution to the national economy from 2% to 8% by 2035, the future looks promising for inclusive growth and social progress…

In conclusion, the 11th edition of the Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers’ Conference (APCMC), stands as a testament to the power of government-cooperative partnerships in driving resilience, sustainable development, and inclusive growth
