Morocco Participates in the International Symposium on Cooperative Financial Institutions in New York

As part of its continued commitment to promoting the social and solidarity economy and strengthening international cooperation, the Kingdom of Morocco participated in the International Symposium on Cooperative Financial Institutions, held on 28–29 May 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Morocco was represented at this international event by Ms. Aïcha Errifaai, Director General of the Office of Cooperation Development (ODCO), who took part as a speaker in a high-level panel discussion entitled: “Strengthening Investment-Supportive Policies for a Stronger Future.” During the session, she highlighted Morocco’s experience in cooperative development and presented the Kingdom’s vision for an inclusive, sustainable, and opportunity-driven cooperative economy, alongside leading international experts and decision-makers from the cooperative finance sector.

The symposium was jointly organized by the International Cooperative Banking Association (ICBA) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) under the theme “Fueling Inclusive and Equitable Growth.” The event served as a global platform bringing together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss ways to strengthen resilient financial services that are rooted in serving communities.

Morocco’s participation reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting inclusive financial models that support local communities and foster territorial development. It also underscores the growing international recognition of the Moroccan cooperative model as a key driver of more equitable and sustainable growth.
